Pearson Fuels Delivers E85 to 500th Location as Gasoline Prices Soar

Pearson Fuels reached a milestone this week, delivering E85 to its 500th station.

“We are excited to achieve number 500 and expand access to E85 across California,” said Doug Vind, managing member of Pearson Fuels. “With some retail gasoline above $6 a gallon right now, E85 is providing significant savings to drivers.”

The average price of E85 in California during March was $2.50 per gallon below gasoline, offering substantial relief to flex fuel vehicle owners.

“While FFVs can realize these fuel savings now, we are hopeful that proposed legislation advancing in Sacramento could expand the benefits to everyday drivers across the state,” Vind said.

AB 2046, a bill from Asm. Rhodesia Ransom, would allow consumers to install E85 conversion kits on traditional, internal combustion engine vehicles in order to be able to choose between E85, gasoline or any blend of the two.

“Adding flex fuel capability allows motorists to hedge their fuel costs against oil and gasoline price shocks like we are seeing today,” Vind said.

The Assembly’s Transportation Committee recently approved AB 2046 unanimously; it will next move to the Assembly’s Appropriations Committee.
